Definition of American Samoa in English:

An unincorporated overseas territory of the US that is composed of a group of islands in the southern Pacific Ocean, east of Western Samoa and south of Kiribati; population 65,600 (est. 2009); capital, Fagatogo. The US acquired rights to the islands by agreement with Germany and Britain in 1899, and the two main islands were ceded to the US by their chiefs in April 1900.
