Definition of Farragut, David Glasgow in English:

( 1801–70), US navy admiral; born James Glasgow Farragut. The outstanding naval commander of the Civil War, he captured the city of New Orleans in April 1862 and extended Union control of the Mississippi River north to Vicksburg.
