Definition of Pembroke table in English:
A small table with fixed legs and a drop-leaf on each side.
- For example, a broadside of about 1806 advertised a dining table to ‘dine from four to an hundred persons or any greater number,’ and after the legs were unscrewed from the top, the table folded to the size of a Pembroke table.
- Their ‘Imperial Dining Table,’ according to their advertisements, could seat from four to more than twenty, yet fold into the size of a Pembroke table.
- The Pembroke table is a small, simple table with drop leaves and usually with a drawer.
