Definition of Whittier, John Greenleaf in English:

( 1807–92), US poet and abolitionist. From the early 1840s, he edited various periodicals and wrote poetry for the abolitionist cause. He is best known for his poems on rural themes, especially “Snow-Bound” (1866).
