Acheson, Dean Gooderham

Pronunciation: /ˈaCHəsən/
(1893–1971), US statesman; secretary of state 1949–53. He urged international control of nuclear power, was instrumental in the formation of NATO, and implemented the Marshall Plan and the Truman Doctrine.
