Allenby, Edmund

1st Viscount (1861–1936), British soldier; full name Edmund Henry Hynman Allenby. Commander of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force against the Turks, he captured Jerusalem in 1917 and defeated the Turkish forces at Megiddo in 1918.
