Beaumarchais, Pierre de

Pronunciation: /ˌbōmärˈSHā/
(1732–99), French playwright; full name Pierre Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais. He is chiefly remembered for his comedies The Barber of Seville (1775) and The Marriage of Figaro (1784).
