Blake, William

Pronunciation: /blāk/
(1757–1827), English artist and poet. His poems mark the beginning of romanticism and a rejection of the Age of Enlightenment. His watercolors and engravings, like his writings, were not fully appreciated until after his death. Notable collections of poems: Songs of Innocence (1789) and Songs of Experience (1794).
