Browning, Elizabeth Barrett

Pronunciation: /ˈbrouniNG/
(1806–61), English poet. She established her reputation with Poems (1844). In 1846, she eloped with Robert Browning. Other notable works: Sonnets from the Portuguese (1850), Aurora Leigh (novel, 1857), and the posthumous Last Poems (1862).
