A fracture of the lower end of the radius in the wrist with a characteristic backward displacement of the hand.
- In adults, the most common radial fracture is the Colles' fracture, which is extra-articular and occurs 2.5 to 3 cm proximal to the articular surface of the distal radius.
- A few minutes later the doctor was back, saying, ‘Surprisingly enough there was a small crack in the wrist bone, called a Colles' fracture, but not to worry.
