Cookson, Dame Catherine

(1906–98), English writer; full name Dame Catherine Anne Cookson. A prolific author of light romantic fiction, she is best known for the Mary Ann series (1956–67), the Mallen trilogy (1973–74), and the Tilly Trotter series (1980–82).
