Crane, Stephen

Pronunciation:
/krān/
(1871–1900), US writer. He is well known for the novel, The Red Badge of Courage (1895), a study of an inexperienced soldier during the Civil War. It was hailed as a masterpiece of psychological realism, even though Crane himself had no personal war experience.
