Pronunciation: /d(y)o͞o ˈbarē/
(1743–93), French courtier and mistress of Louis XV; born Marie Jeanne Bécu; known as Madame Du Barry. During the French Revolution she was arrested by the Revolutionary Tribunal and guillotined.
