Earhart, Amelia

Pronunciation: /ˈe(ə)rˌhärt/
(1897–1937?), US aviator; full name Amelia Mary Earhart. In 1932, she became the first woman to fly an airplane across the Atlantic Ocean by herself. In 1937, her plane disappeared somewhere over the Pacific Ocean during an around-the-world flight.
