Ebla

Pronunciation: /ˈeblə/ /ˈēblə/
A city in ancient Syria that was southwest of Aleppo. It became very powerful in the mid-3rd millennium bc, when it dominated a region corresponding to modern Lebanon, northern Syria, and southeastern Turkey.
