( 1895–1973), US movie director; born Sean Aloysius O’Feeney. He is chiefly known for his westerns, several of which starred John Wayne, including Stagecoach (1939) and She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949). Other notable movies include The Grapes of Wrath (1940).
