Frobisher, Sir Martin

Pronunciation: /ˈfrōbiSHər/
(Circa 1535–94), English explorer. In 1576, he led an unsuccessful expedition in search of the Northwest Passage. Frobisher served in Sir Francis Drake’s Caribbean expedition of 1585–86 and took part in the defeat of the Spanish Armada.
