Grove, Sir George

Pronunciation: /ɡrōv/
(1820–1900), English musicologist. He was the founder and first editor of the multivolume Dictionary of Music and Musicians (1879–89), which is now named for him in its later editions, and served as the first director of the Royal College of Music 1883–94.
