A male native or inhabitant of a group of islands, especially the Hebrides, the Orkneys, or Shetland.
- A naval and a land attack was made upon the Islesmen, and they for a time were quelled.
- A local tradition in Skye tells that the Islesmen held a council at which they decided to offer Somerled the chiefship.
