Jolson, Al

Pronunciation: /ˈjōlsən/
(1886–1950), US singer, movie actor, and comedian; born Asa Yoelson in Russia. He made the Gershwin song “Swanee” his trademark and appeared in the first full-length talking movie, The Jazz Singer, in 1927.
