Joplin, Scott

Pronunciation: /ˈjäplin/
(1868–1917), US pianist and composer. He was the first of the creators of ragtime to write down his compositions. Notable works: “Maple Leaf Rag” (1899), “The Entertainer” (1902), and “Gladiolus Rag” (1907).
