Kenton, Stan

Pronunciation: /ˈkentn/
(1912–79), US bandleader, composer, and arranger; born Stanley Newcomb. He formed his own orchestra in 1940 and is particularly associated with the big-band jazz style of the 1950s. Notable works: “Artistry in Rhythm” (1941) and “Eager Beaver” (1943).
