Kosciusko, Mount

Pronunciation: /ˌkäzēˈəskō/
A mountain in southeastern Australia, in the Great Dividing Range. Rising to a height of 7,234 feet (2,228 m), it is the highest mountain in Australia.

Origin

Named by the explorer Sir Paul Edmund de Strzelecki (1797–1873) in honor of T. Kosciusko (see Kosciusko, Thaddeus).
