Manson, Sir Patrick

Pronunciation: /ˈmansən/
(1844–1922), Scottish physician; pioneer of tropical medicine. He established that elephantiasis was spread by the bite of a mosquito and suggested a similar role for the mosquito in the spread of malaria.
