Marciano, Rocky

Pronunciation: /ˌmärsēˈänō/ /-ˈanō/
(1923–69), US heavyweight boxing champion; born Rocco Francis Marchegiano. He became world heavyweight champion in 1952 and successfully defended his title six times until he retired, undefeated, in 1956.
