Mayakovsky, Vladimir

Pronunciation: /ˌmäyəˈkôfskē/ /-skyē/
(1893–1930), Soviet poet and playwright; full name Vladimir Vladimirovich Mayakovsky. A fervent futurist, he wrote in a declamatory, aggressive avant-garde style, which he altered to have a comic mass appeal after the Bolshevik revolution.
