Miller, Glenn

Pronunciation: /ˈmilər/
(1904–44), US jazz trombonist and bandleader; full name Alton Glenn Miller. From 1938, he led his celebrated big band, with which he recorded his signature tune “Moonlight Serenade.” He died when his airplane disappeared on a routine flight across the English Channel.
