Monteverdi, Claudio

Pronunciation: /ˌmäntəˈverdē/ /ˌmônte-/
(1567–1643), Italian composer. He is noted for the use of harmonic dissonance in his madrigals. He wrote the opera Orfeo (1607) and Vespers (1610).
