Ormandy, Eugene

Pronunciation: /ˈôrməndē/
(1899–1985), US conductor; born in Hungary; born Jeno Blau. He was conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra from 1938 to 1980, the longest directorship of an orchestra in US history.
