A windmill supported by a post on which it pivots to catch the wind.
- There are three types of wind mill; an example of the oldest, the post mill, is pictured here.
- Garboldisham post mill was probably erected in the late 1700s and a piece of the original woodwork bears the inscription WR 1780
- It is the largest post mill in Sussex, and is unique in that it is fitted with Hammond's Patent Sweep Governor, a feature previously fitted to Jack Mill, Clayton.
