Method of telephone dialing in which each digit is transmitted as a corresponding number of electronic pulses. Compare with tone dialing.
- The rotary dial is a device mounted on or in a telephone or switchboard that is designed to send interrupted electrical pulses, known as pulse dialling, corresponding to the number dialed.
- In pulse dialling you can hear multiple ‘clicks’ in the earpiece when buttons are pressed on your telephone keypad.
