Entry from British & World English dictionary
Definition of recording angel in English:
An angel that is believed to register each person’s good and bad actions.
- It called the book ‘sloppy, self-indulgent and dull - the sound of one man prattling away, not for the reader, but for himself and some distant recording angel of history.’
- It was alway assumed, of course, that God would make the final decision, and the recording angel never played any kind of a judgmental role, but it was intended to remind the faithful that there was just no way to avoid the scrutiny of the divine.
