An organ stop with a soft reedy tone.
- The 4' Viola is extended from the 8' Salicional. The 2 2/3' Nazard is derived from the Salicional unit, and the 2' Violina is also from the 8' Salicional.
- The Salicional is made of open, cylindrical, metal pipes. The mouths are small and have unusual ears, which are constructed in a similar manner to a tuning slide with splayed ends. The pipes are slotted and stamped SAL.
Mid 19th century: from German Salicional, from Latin salix, salic- 'willow' + the obscurely derived suffix -ional.
