Sutherland, George

Pronunciation: /ˈsəT͟Hərlənd/
(1862–1942), US Supreme Court associate justice 1922–38. Appointed to the Court by President Harding, he was a Utah conservative strongly opposed many of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal programs.
