Definition of thrust bearing in English:
A bearing designed to take a load in the direction of the axis of a shaft, especially one transmitting the thrust of a propeller shaft to the hull of a ship.
- A box-like structure on the propeller shaft, the thrust bearing transfers propulsive force from the propeller shaft to the hull of the ship.
- A flange on the end of the shaft shows where the thrust bearing has been removed.
- In 1905 A. G. M. Mitchell patented the thrust bearing for improved propulsion of ships.
