A local area network in which a node can transmit only when in possession of a sequence of bits (called the token) that is passed to each node in turn.
Example sentences
  • SAN interfaces are typically Fibre Channel and SCSI, rather than Ethernet or token ring.
  • Through the years it's remained in the lead, even with concerted efforts to replace it with more sophisticated token ring, FDDI, and ATM technologies.
