1A state in the western central US; population 532,668 (est. 2008); capital, Cheyenne; statehood, July 10, 1890 (44). Acquired, in part, by the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, it gave the vote to women in 1869, the first state to do so.
2A city in southwestern Michigan, southwest of Grand Rapids; population 70,462 (est. 2008).
