A wild plant of the parsley family, native to central and western North America, that has an edible root. It has clusters of small white flowers somewhat resembling Queen Anne’s lace.

- Some tubers of the western USA which were important to the Indians and bore this name were also called yampa, Indian potato, wild caraway, and ipo.
- The yampas, glacier lilies, biscuit roots, and thistles are among her favorite flower roots.
