Definition of Andersen, Hans Christian in English:

( 1805–75), Danish author. He is famous for his fairy tales, published from 1835, such as ‘The Snow Queen’, ‘The Ugly Duckling’, and ‘The Little Match Girl’. Although rooted in Danish folklore, the stories were also shaped by Andersen’s own psychological alienation.
