( 1931–2005), US actress; born Anna Maria Louisa Italiano. For her stage and film portrayal of Helen Keller’s teacher Annie Sullivan in The Miracle Worker, she won a 1960 Tony Award and a 1962 Academy Award. Her role as Mrs. Robinson in the movie The Graduate (1967) is considered iconic.
