( 1924–2004), New Zealand novelist; full name Janet Paterson Frame. Her novels draw on her experiences of psychiatric hospitals after she suffered a severe mental breakdown. Her three-volume autobiography (1982-5) was made into the film An Angel at my Table (1990).
