A chain of islands lying off the coast of NW Europe, extending from the IJsselmeer in the Netherlands to Jutland. The islands consist of three groups: the West Frisian Islands form part of the Netherlands, the East Frisian Islands form part of Germany, and the North Frisian Islands are divided between Germany and Denmark.
