Definition of Menderes in English:

A river of SW Turkey. Rising in the Anatolian plateau, it flows for some 384 km (240 miles), entering the Aegean Sea south of the Greek island of Samos. Known in ancient times as the Maeander, and noted for its winding course, it gave its name to the verb meander.
