Definition of Missolonghi in English:

A city in western Greece, on the north shore of the Gulf of Patras; population 12,800 (est. 2009). It is noted as the place where the poet Byron, who had joined the fight for Greek independence from the Turks, died of malaria in 1824. Greek name Mesolóngion.
