A city in southern Germany, in Bavaria; population 500,900 (est. 2006). In the 1930s the Nazi Party congresses and annual rallies were held in the city and in 1945-6 it was the scene of the Nuremberg war trials, in which Nazi war criminals were tried by international military tribunal.
