( 1664–1726), English architect and dramatist. His comedies include The Relapse (1696) and The Provok'd Wife (1697). Among his architectural works are Castle Howard in Yorkshire (1702) and Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire (1705), both produced in collaboration with Nicholas Hawksmoor.
