Alcaeus

Pronunciation: /alˈkʌɪəs/
(Circa 620-circa 580 bc), Greek lyric poet. He invented a new form of lyric metre, the alcaic; he also wrote political odes, drinking songs, and love songs. His works were a model for Horace and the verse of the Renaissance.
