Beckett, Samuel

Pronunciation: /ˈbɛkɪt/
(1906–89), Irish playwright, novelist, and poet; full name Samuel Barclay Beckett. He is best known for his plays, especially Waiting for Godot (1952), a seminal work in the Theatre of the Absurd. Nobel Prize for Literature (1969).
