Bellingshausen Sea

Pronunciation: /ˈbɛlɪŋzˌhaʊz(ə)n/
A part of the SE Pacific off the coast of Antarctica, bounded to the east and south by the Antarctic Peninsula and Ellsworth Land.

Origin

Named after the Russian explorer Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen (1778–1852), who in 1819–21 became the first to circumnavigate Antarctica.
