Bierce, Ambrose

Pronunciation: /bɪəs/
(1842-circa 1914), American writer, best known for his sardonic short stories and The Devil’s Dictionary (1911); full name Ambrose Gwinnett Bierce. In 1913 he travelled to Mexico and mysteriously disappeared.
